Chilton's Ford Mustang 1994-98 Repair Manual (Total Car Care Series) by Chilton
Reviewer: A reader Overall, this book has lots of good information but their coverage of the 5.0 engine was questionable. As anyone who works on the 1994-1995 cars knows, their are small but significant differences in the last 5.0's when compared to the 1993 prior models and when the author chose to use the old style engine photos I also question whether the specs published are correct for the 94-95 engine. |

Chilton's Ford Mustang 1989-93 Repair Manual (Chilton's Total Car Care Series) by Chilton
Reviewer: Ian Reandeau from Redmond, WA I found this maunal incomplete, and inaccurate. The wireing diagrams have many errors. Though I have found it useful at times |

Ford Mustang and Capri, 1979-88 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual) by Chilton
Reviewer: A reader This book will allow you to take your mustang apart and put it back together. It's only limitations are: the electronics section should be more extensive, there should be part numbers with every item, factory paint colors, emissions could use some more detail, etc. But overall, this is a great book for the 1979-88 mustang, because we all spend at least a few hours a month doing maintenence to keep them from falling apart. |

Ford Mustang and Cougar, 1964-73 (Chilton Automotive Books) by Chilton
Reviewer: Bob (Chicago) This book is okay for some simpler repair and maintainance jobs. Use it in conjunction with some better books for any serious repairs. It leaves out LOTS of important details in many cases. I would NEVER try rebuilding your engine using this book. The pictues are grainy and can be hard to see what its illustrating. The electrical section is somewhat lacking. Try and find a used copy or borrow one. The best part about it is, IF you are working on a 71-73 Mustang, ALL the photos are of a 72 Mustang with a 302. |

Ford Mustang 1994 Thru 2000 All Models: Haynes Repair Manual Based on a Complete Teardown and Rebuild (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual) by Haynes Publications Inc (Editor), Robert Maddox, John H. Haynes
Reviewer: mugsy1 from Warwick, RI USA this book is really good, i would have given it 5 stars but most pictures are for 3.8 liter and 4.6 liter cobras and i own a 5.0 liter 94 GT. they describe things well including potential problems with malfunctioning parts, which is good for diagnosis. i have saved 3 to 4 hours on labor by doing some jobs myself. i am somewhat mechchanically inclined. i have never changed my own oil (too messy and i wouldn't know how to get rid of it), but i did replace my EGR valve and sensor, my fuel pump relay, my belt, O2 sensor, spark plugs and wires. the book always tells you when you might be getting in over your head, and says, let a pro do this part. i have learned alot, and saved more. |

Haynes Ford Mustang: 1994 Thru 1998 (Haynes automotive repair manual series) by Haynes Editors
Reviewer: A reader The basic maintenance section is great... for changing spark plugs, changing oil, etc. Two weaknesses though - 1) It covers the 5.0L, 3.8L and 4.6L DOHC in great detail. The 4.6L SOHC (which I what I have) is rarely directly covered. Its tossed in together with the DOHC. This is problematic, especially for working in the engine area... things are never in the same place. 2) If you want detailed information on things that regular maintenance don't cover, for the purpose of making modifications (vortech, nitrous, etc.) there's not enough detail. This is OK, since modifications is not the main purpose of the book. Overall, good for what its intended for! |

Ford Mustang II Automotive Repair Manual: 1974 Thru 1978 (Haynes Owner Workshop Manuals, No 231) by J.H. Haynes, M.S. Daniels
Reviewer: A reader This book is much better than Chilton's. Mustang II's are Mustangs too!!! |

Ford Mustang Automotive Repair Manual: 1964 1/2 Thru 1973 : V8 Engines (Haynes Ford Mustang I Owners Workshop Manual V-8) by J. H. Haynes, et al
Reviewer: A reader I suppose this book is fine for those people who aren't going to attempt to do more than change the oil or maybe replace the brake shoes. I've found that anything more than that is either skipped over or mentioned only in passing. For example, the section on installing the intake manifold consists only of a picture of the manifold. The fault diagnosis sections aren't terribly helpful either. A few possibilities per symptom are listed, but they are very vague, for example, "mechanical damage." Occasionally you will find a helpful bit of information, but for the most part this book is a waste of money. |
