Ford F100/F150 Pick-Up: "America's Best-Selling Truck" by Robert C. Ackerson
Reviewer: Jon Hevia from United States
In one word - Marvelous. Right when I got It it was a breeze using it. From the ime that you open it, to the time that it's covered in car grease and not ledgable anymore, its a truck owners bible. There is an easy-read index that guides you throughtout the book and tons of photos. As an amature mechanic, I can have trouble reading complicated scematics and maps to engines. But this book made it simple. I would definitly reccomend it to anyone. (Be sure to see the parts list in the back-great help on ordering hard to find parts)

How to Restore Your Ford Pickup by Tom Brownell
Reviewer: A reader from Worthington, PA USA
Before starting a rebuild of my '51 Ford pickup, I accumulated as many manuals and other written materials as I could. Brownell's book helped me to understand the crucial difference between a restoration and a rebuild, and to plan my work accordingly. I'm sure that the job will take longer and cost more than I'd hoped, but I'm equally sure I'll be happy with the end result, due in large part to the wisdom imparted by this book

Ford Truck & Ranchero Parts Location Guide by David Gimbel (Editor)
Book Description
Recognized by dozens of magazines and car club newsletters as the easiest way to find parts for your old Ford truck or Ranchero. The book took several years to research and is the only one of its kind in the old car hobby. It covers all years, makes, and models of Ford truck and Ranchero. For several years, some of the largest parts suppliers in the country have been sending us people that they can't help. The books are used by professional parts locators and thousands of restorers across the country. It lists hundreds of specialty dealers supplying NOS, reproduction or used parts for just your car. There are thousands of listings which are organized to make finding your part easy. It includes separate sections for body, interior, trim, engine, rubber, suspension, and driveline which are then alphabetized by part. This will give you dozens of places that might carry the part you're looking for. There are also sections for companies that rebuild and restore parts, a state by state list of specialty salvage yards, and old car literature dealers. This book will save you time, money, and headache when searching for any part!

Ford Pick-Ups & Bronco Automotive Repair Manual 1973-1979 (Haynes Repair Manual) by John B. Raffa, John Harold Haynes, Dennis Yamaguchi
Reviewer: A reader
This manual is an absolute essential for anyone who wants to work on an early ford bronco or 70's pick-up. It covers every topic from routine maintenance to engine and body repair. The content is based on a complete tear-down and rebuild of the truck. Although it is very technical subject matter, the wording is relatively simple where possible, and diagrams and photographs are very helpful. Information such as engine specifications and wiring diagrams are provided for individual year models where applicable. It does not discuss restoration explicitely, but the information it contains is as invaluable to the restorer as it is to the amatuer mechanic. In other words, this is truly THE book every early bronco owner should have on his shelf.

Chilton's Ford Pick-Up 1965-86 by Chilton Book Company, Chilton's Automotives Editorial, Ron Webb (Photographer)
Reviewer: Jacqueline Brasfield from Santa Fe, NM
So I'm covered in mud and (ouch) gravel--funny how those sharp stones can really stick to your skin. Anyway, I'm trying to resurect a half-dead 1965 Ford Pick up by myself, with very few tools. I'm what I'd consider mildly mechanically competent, but with the time honored tradition of Chilton Manuals I've managed to work on my own cars with very good results. For older vehicles you'll also want to get the original manual (usually not too hard to find.)Chances are if you're looking at this book you're already comfortable working on your own vehicle, but on the off chance that you're a novice, consider this. Getting comfortable with working on your own vehicle and getting to know your vehicle is the best thing you can do. It saves you money in the long run and you'll feel empowered when you gap your own spark plugs for the first time. Seriously, with this book anyone should feel comfortable taking a look under the hood of their vehicle and doing a little work.

Ford Pick-Ups and Bronco Automotive Repair Manual: 1980 Thru 1996 (Haynes Automotive Repair Manual Series) by Mark Christman, John B. Raffa, John Harold Haynes, Haynes Publishing
Reviewer: A reader from Sioux City, IA United States
Knowing little about auto mechanics I find this manual very informative. It's a great to use as a detailed extension of an owners manual. I use it thouroughly for basic maintenance and repair. As an amature mechanic it's a good resource for getting to know your truck better, with detailed descriptions on every part. I've tried to use this book as a trouble shooting guide with with little success. More often than not it led me down dead end paths and seemed to lack a lot of info in this department.

Ford Ranger & Mazda Pick-Ups Automotive Repair Manual: B-Series: All Ford Ranger Models-1993 Through 2000, All Mazda B2300, B3000 and B4000, Pick-Ups-1994 Through 2000 by Eric Jorgensen, Alan Ahlstrand, John H. Haynes
Reviewer: Edward Gow from Seattle, WA USA
The first need I had for information from my Haynes Ford Ranger manual was to locate a fuse in my 1999 Ranger XLT. The fuse diagram is wrong. No corrections are available at the Haynes website.

Ford Bronco, 1966-1977 by R. M. Clarke
Reviewer: David F. (Monty) Montgomery II from Hondo, TX USA
Anyone with even a casual interest in the early Ford Broncos will find this book worthwhile. It includes many of the early magazine reviews on the truck, as well as several later ones. The articles hit on each year, which provides a good overview of the Bronco as it changed to fit the times. Plenty of technical information can be found here, including options, engines, specifications, etc. It's not a restoration manual, but rather a historical look back at one of the great SUVs of the 20th century. Check it out!

Ford F-Series Pickup Owner's Bible: A Hands-On Guide to Getting the Most from Your F-Series Pickup by Moses Ludel
Reviewer: Jason Gralian from Phoenix, AZ United States
I respectfully disagree with the poor ratings offered by other reviewers. This book was never intended to be a complete service manual and it offers very important information that you will never find in other books. Mr Ludel created in this book something that I've found incredibly lacking in more typical service manuals: readability and enjoyable content. He gives an overview of the prolific and popular Ford F-series truck. His descriptions of the different available engines, transmissions and accessory packages is unique. His book is something that you can actually sit down and enjoy reading. It is not a terse, robotic instruction manual that guides you through maintenance and repair procedures. He describes the many faces of the Ford trucks as they spanned the years dating back to its infancy up through more current models.
Buy this book for the right reasons. If you are interested in buying a used Ford F-series or if you already own one then this will serve you well. Unless some kind of revised edition is in the works then the information might be dated in the context of buying a new truck. Do NOT buy this book expecting to get a service manual that will give you step-by-step instructions for repairing a component on your truck. It was not intended for this! If you want a service manual I suggest the Haynes line, and I would specifically suggest NOT getting the Chilton brand manuals. In my experience Haynes has for more clear instructions and illustrations than Chilton.

Classic Ford F-Series Pickup Trucks: 1948-1956 (Pickup Color History) by Don Bunn

The photography was excellent and the stories and details on Ford collectable trucks were quite interesting. If you are into old car or truck history or collecting, this is a great addition to your library. Buy it!

Chilton's Ford Pick-Ups & Bronco 1987-93 by Chilton Book Company
Reviewer: An Amazon.com Customer
I have used chiltons books for many years for different model cars and motorcycles. Do you also provide a CD with maintenance manuel type information. At our local auto parts dealer I've seen CDs maintenance information. I understand from the store employee that the CD is much more comprehensive and has better pictorial details. I'd like to get some more information on the CD.

Ford Ranger and Bronco II Automotive Repair Manual : 1983-1992 2Wd and 4Wd Models With a Gasoline Engine Automotive Repair Manual by Alan Ahlstrand (Editor), Homer Eubanks, John Harold Haynes, Haynes Publishing, Staff Haynes Publications
Reviewer: Josh Speer from Oakland, CA USA
I also own both this and the analogous Chilton manual and I have to say that the Haynes is by far the more accessible: The drawings and photographs are clearer, the instructions are better written, and the seperation of the information regarding the different engines is better. Also, the general maintenance (oil change, lube, and tune up) information is much better.
The Chilton manual, on the other hand, has extensive tables of torque listings, includes Ford part numbers in the drawings, and has factory-style detail regarding the catalyst.
On balance, these two are complementary. Unfortunately, not even both of these in concert are exhaustive: there are simply some details that are not covered. If anyone has a better manual please let me know.
Regarding the electircal schematics comment from previous: The total system is cut up into several sections and moving between the sections may be tricky (if not impossible), but, again, the Haynes is more clearly labeled.
Disclaimer: I have not yet used either manual for a major job.

Have you ever drove a ford truck? Have you ever tryed to fix up a ford truck. The main thing that you will find out about a Ford truck is that they aren't just a truck but more or less just a good friend. Many people that have a ford truck probly have a nick name for that truck. And many owners will tell you that a Ford truck is very dependable in every situation. I have three ford trucks, 1979 F-250 4x4,1964 f-100,1999 f-150 4x4, and they are all geat trucks! Ford trucks have been a tradition truck for my family, and they always will be. All my ford trucks have great motors and are still in great shape, even my 35 year old 1965 truck, I love that truck. I have been brought up in a farming comunity and if you ask any farmer in my town they will tell you "I won't drive anything but my Ford." they are great truck all around! in closing I would like to say that your magizine is a great magizine.

Chilton's Ford Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-99 Repair Manual (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual) by Chilton (Editor), Chilton Publishing
Reviewer: Darren V from Minneapolis
Received book as Christmas gift couple years ago. I have a 1998 Explorer, and I continue to be frustrated by this sorry excuse for a manual.....erroneous info, and complete lack of depth. As I found out late last night, something as simple as documenting a fuse-box is complete garbage.
I've also owned Haynes manuals, and seem to have had better luck with them.
I can't imagine anyone who would be pleased with this manual, unless you require instructions on how to top up the wiper fluid.

Ford-Pick-UpsExpeditionNavigator 1997-00 by Chilton (Editor)
Reviewer: Mark Young from San Diego, CA
I recently purchased a 1997 Expedition, but couldn't find the owners manual. I ordered this book with hopes of clarifying some basic information. I think this book has quite a bit of data, but it is hard to read, index, and otherwise unfriendly. For example, the fuse box section does not tell you which fuses relate to which piece of equipment, making troubleshooting tough. The section on sizes and capacities is so small and marked with footnotes, I still don't know what size fuel tank I have. Also, too many models covered in this manual that aren't important to me, and too few pictures. I'm gonna try the Haynes version.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control : All Ford/Lincoln-Mercury Cars and Light Trucks 1988 to 1993 by Charles O. Probst
Reviewer: Keith Jones from El Paso, TX United States
After reading the reviews on Amazon and other sources I got the impression that Mr. Probst's book was "THE BOOK" to read for modification of the EEC-IV system on my Ford Truck.
I was very disappointed. 95% of the book was nothing more than a SIMPLIFIED discription of each component in the Ford and Mazda engine control system. Mr. Probst very strongly implied that people should not modify their engine control system.
I found Mr. Jeff Hartman's book "Fuel Injection: Installation, Performance Tuning, Modification" much more informative for technical information.
