Kawasaki made 8 PWC's for 2003, but only 7 in 2004. The 1100ZXi and 1100 STX DI have been cut from the lineup, and new for 2004 is the STX-15F four stroke. The 1100ZXi was the lightweight sit down model last year, only 589 pounds, but the more powerful 2004 Ultra 150 is just a little heavier at 613.
Kawasaki has 3 body styles in 2004, the stand up, the 2 seater 114 inch Ultra hull, and the 3 seater 123 inch STX.
The 800 SX-R hull was apparantly redone for 2004, as it is an inch longer, an inch narrower, and an inch taller. A fresh water fitting for flushing the cooling system is new for 2004. The 781cc two cyclinder is still rated at 628 pounds of thrust, same as last year, and now available in red and green models.
Five engines this year for the 6 sit down Jet Skis, only the 1176cc 2 stroke is available in both size hulls.
The Ultra 150 comes with the 145 hp 1176cc two stroke triple with 3 Mikuni carburators, while the Ultra 130 has the 1071cc with fuel injection. The 150 at 613 pounds is 29 pounds lighter than the 130 and has 52 more pounds of thrust than the 130.
The 4 three seater STX models have 4 different engines. New for 2004 is a much bigger 4 stoke 4 cylinder engine for the STX-15F. This 1498cc 160 hp 4 stroke 4 cylinder produces 51 more pounds of thrust than the 145 hp triple in the Ultra 150, but the STX-15F weighs 130 pounds more at 743 pounds.
The STX-12F returns with the 1199cc 4 stroke 4 cylinder engine. The 12F is only 6 pounds lighter than the 15F. Both have 23.5 gallons of storage.
Two of the STX models have 2 cycle triples, the 1200 STX-R and the 900 STX, both use three Keihin carburators. The 1200 is the hot rod, with the same 145 horsepower engine as the Ultra 150 it weighs 20 pounds less than the 900 STX and has gobs more power.
